Learn the elements of narrative craft used by seasoned storytellers and how they relate to the elements of a scientific story. See how the principles of telling a good story can apply to how you write about or present your research and improve your scientific writing and communication skills. |

Workshop Description: | This workshop will highlight both the successes and challenges of starting a Tribal Institutional Review Board from the CRCAIH Tribal Partners. It will also will cover some of the ethical and regulatory aspects that are unique to Tribal IRBs regarding their concerns while conducting protocol reviews from a tribal perspective. Examples include, deciding upon the best location to house the office, developing a tribal research code, recruiting IRB members and conducting IRB meetings. Attendees will also have time to ask questions and learn about research review from the unique perspectives of the CRCAIH Tribal Partners. |
Intended Audience: | Tribes interested in learning more about the process of setting up a Tribal IRB; Researchers, physicians, and providers interested in learning more about working with tribes on research projects. |

Workshop Description: | Join the National Congress of American Indians' (NCAI) Policy Research Center for an exciting and interactive session which will feature the contents of a new toolkit-style resource titled, Holding Space: A Guide for Partners in Tribal Research, and the official launch of the all-new Tribal Research Futures Game! The Guide dives into issues of governance, trust, and culture in the tribal research space and how partners might navigate them in a way that builds tribal sovereignty and research sustainability. The Game then develops these core concepts by allowing participants to engage with strategic and challenging scenarios on topics of data resources, design, dissemination, and implementation in research relationships. Be sure to RSVP for this fun and impactful event! |
Intended Audience: | Tribal leaders as well as Native and non-Native researchers, physicians and providers, program administrators, evaluators, college students, research reviewers, and community members alike are welcomed to join the Tribal Research Futures workshop. We particularly encourage participation from those currently engaged in (or pursuing) tribal research partnership(s). |
